(Special Power of Attorney, Affidavit, any Statement taken under oath and needing notarization or Acknowledgment by the Embassy Consular Officer, for use in the Philippines)

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Two copies of the document to be notarized/acknowledged (pro-forma documents are available at the downloads section of the Embassy website and should be fully filled out).
  2. Two photocopies and the original identification card, preferably the passport, of the affiant.
  3. Personal appearance of the affiant, who shall sign two copies of the document in front of the processor.
  4. Notarization Fee of twenty-two euros and fifty cents (€22.50) per document to be notarized.

 

Authentication or Apostille Documents originating from one country, for use in another country:

    1. Documents originating from the Philippines for use in Greece and Cyprus (For example, Civil Registry Records- Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Death Certificate, Certificate of No Marriage Record; School Records- Transcript of records, Diploma; Licences – Driver’s Licence; Proof of Profession- PRC Rating, PRC License; other documents with information recorded/registered in the Philippines; etc)
      1. The Philippines joined the Hague Apostille Convention in May 2019 and has since stopped using the Authentication Certificates and started using the Apostille Certificate for documents coming from the Philippines for use abroad. All documents to be used abroad have to pass through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office or any of its regional and extension offices for the Apostille. Philippine Embassies and Consulates do not issue Apostille Certificates.
      2. For documents to be submitted in Greece, the Apostille Certificate must be submitted to the Greek Embassy in Manila for Authentication before it can be used and accepted in Greece. Greece did not accept the Philippines’ use of the Apostille.
      3. For documents to be submitted to be submitted in Cyprus, the documents with the DFA Apostille Certificate is acceptable and can now be used in Cyprus.
    2. Documents originating from Greece for use in the Philippines
      1. The document originating from Greece must be brought to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for Authentication/Legalization.
      2. The documents with MFA Authentication/Legalization must be brought to the Philippine Embassy for Authentication before it can be used in the Philippines.
      3. Please note that the Philippine Embassy authenticates only documents written in English.
      4. For documents needing translation from Greek to English, please ensure that the translation office is recognized by the Greek MFA. If the translation office is not registered with the Greek MFA, the documents will not be authenticated by the MFA, and hence, cannot be authenticated by the Embassy.
      5. Authentication Fee of the Embassy is twenty-two euros and fifty cents (€22.50) per document to be authenticated.
    3. Documents originating from Cyprus for use in the Philippines
      1. The Philippines will not accept documents in Cypriot or other language without the English translation.
      2. The document originating from Cyprus and its English translation must be brought to the Cyprus Ministry of Justice (MOJ) for the Apostille Certificate
      3. The document will now be acceptable for use in the Philippines.

NOTE: Because the Philippines has joined the Hague Apostille Convention and Cyprus has accepted the Philippines’ use of the apostille, both the documents originating from the Philippines with the DFA Apostille Certificate, for use in Cyprus, and documents originating from Cyprus with the MOJ Apostille, for use in the Philippines, do not need any certification or stamp from the Philippine Embassy in Athens, Greece.
