NEW PHILIPPINE CONSULATE OFFICIALLY OPENS IN LARNACA, CYPRUS

The Philippine Consulate in Larnaca, Cyprus headed by Ms. Charmagne Garcia-Laconico, Consul ad honorem, was officially opened on 26 October 2021, with its office located at Makariou III Avenue 21B, 6016 Larnaca, Cyprus.

The unfurling of the ribbon to signify the opening of the Philippine Consulate was led by Philippine Ambassador to Greece and Cyprus, H.E. Giovanni E. Palec, together with Ms. Charmagne Garcia-Laconico, Consul ad honorem,Philippine Consulate in Larnaca; Hon. Andreas Vyras, Mayor of the Municipality of Larnaca; and Ambassador Andreas Ignatiou, Political Director for Bilateral Affairs and Foreign Affairs Council Coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.

Also present in the event were Hon. Evangelos Evangelides, Mayor of the Municipality of Aradippou, as well as members of the House of Representatives of Cyprus: Hon. Andreas Pasiourtides, Representative of the Larnaca Constituency under the banner of AKEL-Left-New Forces, and Hon. Christos Orphanides, Representative of the Larnaca Constituency under the banner of Democratic Party.

The event was likewise attended by members of the media, local government officials as well as family, guests and business contacts of Honorary Consul Charmagne Garcia-Laconico.

As part of the event’s program, Philippine Ambassador to Greece and Cyprus, H.E. Giovanni E. Palec, and Honorary Consul Charmagne Garcia-Laconico, presented the “Kaibigan Award” to Retired Chief of Fire Service Mr. Marcos Tragkoulas in recognition of his compassion, service and friendship extended to the Filipino Community in Cyprus during times of need.

The Philippine Consulate Showroom was also launched with the “Best of the Philippines” exhibit, which showcased pieces of internationally-acclaimed Philippine fashion and accessories designers and brands including Aranaz, Beatriz, Bea Valdes, JC Buendia, Jo Ann Bitagcol, Maco Custodio, Tweetie de Leon Gonzales, Filip+Inna, Joanique, Adante Layesa, Mele & Marie, Randy Ortiz, Arnel Papa, Rafe, S.C. Vizcarra and Zacharias.

The Philippine Consulate in Larnaca officially opened to the public on 02 November. It has jurisdiction over the districts of Larnaca, Limassol and Famagusta in Cyprus.
